Day 3 The South Coast

On Day 3 of your Icelandic adventure you’ll set out to explore the captivating South Coast, where you’ll discover some of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders. As you travel through the ever-changing landscape, you’ll be awestruck by the stunning waterfalls, black sand beaches and glaciers that make this region truly unique.

Start the day with a stop in Selfoss town. Then it’s off to the Skógafoss waterfall, where you’ll have the opportunity to get close to the cascading water and walk the countless steps to the brim of the waterfall for an unforgettable view.

Visit the Skogar Museum, where you will be transported back in time as you explore the rich cultural heritage of the Icelandic people.

Next, is a thrilling adventure that takes you on a journey through one of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders. The glacier hike takes you through a labyrinth of ice formations, where you can witness the glacier’s unique texture and stunning blue ice caves. Your experienced guide will share their knowledge about the glacier’s history, geology, and ecology, making the experience both informative and exciting. End this exciting day at Vik village to admire its most famous church located on a hill with a beautiful view of the black beach. Dinner at a local restaurant and you’ll spend the night in Vik area, location away from the agglomeration, which significantly increases the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.

Day 4 Ice Caves, Glaciers, Waterfalls, and Lava Centre Hvolsvöllur

Today you’ll visit Yoda Cave, whose shape resembles the character from the famous movie Star Wars.

Then, it’s time to jump in a Super Jeep, strap on your crampons, and step into the mighty glaciers and ice caves of South Iceland. Prepare for movie-like landscapes and jaw-dropping sights like nothing you’ve ever seen before. We’ll hike across the Myrdalsjokull glacier, then visit the amazing blue and black ice cave of the Kötlujökull glacier on Mt. Katla.

The day continues with the unique opportunity to walk behind the picturesque Seljalandfoss Waterfall and visit Gljúfrabúi Waterfall, the “gorge dweller.” Walk along the rock cliff to this little gem if you dare and explore the gorge for a closer look. Waterproof shoes are highly recommended!

Today, embark on a journey to discover some of Iceland’s most iconic landscapes and natural wonders. The Golden Circle tour is often referred to as “Iceland in a nutshell,” and it’s easy to see why.

Start by visiting the must-see sights of natural beauty and historical importance, such as the stunning Gullfoss Waterfall, where you can feel the mist of glacial water as it cascades down one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. Next, experience the unique geological wonders of Geysir, where you can hear the bubbling of the mud pots, smell the sulfur in the air, and watch in awe as the geyser Strokkur blasts boiling water into the air.

Continue to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can walk among the geological wonders of the fissure zone and in the footsteps of the early Viking settlers. This is where the Althingi Parliament was founded and is a place of great historical significance.

Lunch is at the Friðheimar Greenhouse where you’ll gain a unique insight into the processes of greenhouse horticulture and the use of geothermal heating in Icelandic horticulture. Enjoy the special experience of entering a greenhouse with its fragrant tomato plants – and then sitting down to a feast of the famous and delicious Friðheimar tomato soup with freshly baked bread – with tomato plants all around.
